Dr. Marcella Ziska Returns to Omaha to Practice NUCCA Chiropractic
Metro residents who have been following the breakthrough research study on lowering blood pressure using the NUCCA technique will be pleased to know that Omaha native, Dr. Marcy Ziska, has set up her NUCCA practice in West Omaha. Dr. Ziska is one of only 300 doctors worldwide who are specifically trained in and practice the NUCCA technique.
NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association) was recently in the news due to a double-blind study done at the University of Chicago. Researchers proved that this specific and gentle type of correction in the upper neck significantly decreased the blood pressure of patients with hypertension. Typically a reduction this significant would require taking two blood pressure medications simultaneously.
NUCCA differs from most chiropractic techniques in that it removes pressure from the brain stem. The brainstem controls numerous bodily functions, including blood pressure, breathing, digestion and the muscles of the neck and back. To accomplish this, the NUCCA doctor focuses on the top bone in the neck and gently and specifically aligns the skull and upper neck. This correction is long-lasting and has full-body effects. Because this area can become misaligned without pain, it often goes undetected and untreated. Even a slight misalignment of the upper cervical area can cause major health problems.
Dr. Ziska was introduced to NUCCA 10 years ago while suffering from hyperthyroid disease. After numerous medical doctors were unable to stabilize her condition, a friend recommended NUCCA. Once under NUCCA care, Dr. Ziska became healthy again and was able to discontinue all medication and avoid surgery. The change was so profound that she decided to return to school for a doctorate in chiropractic.
